THE SECOND COLEMAN STORIES, final chapter.

This one’s called “How About…”

Also, stick around for Final Words. About this project, putting it together back in 2019-2020 and what all it meant to me.

THE SECOND COLEMAN STORIES, chapters 17, 18 & 19

Story 5, “Relatives” comes to an end.

After this there will be just one story left.

Just one chapter left.

Welcome to the second-last post in this series. These three chapters are called “The Coleman Dream, Pt. 1”, “The Coleman Dream, Pt. 2” and “The Coleman Dream, Pt. 3

CHAPTER 17

CHAPTER 18

CHAPTER 19

So Anthony’s journey is over.

As is Santeri Nieminen’s

As is that of the last member of the Porter-family.

The Greens are back and nothing that anybody is ever gonna do, is ever gonna stop them from re-surfacing.

Sanna and Alex finally decide to move away from it all. Everything Anthony has expressed, or otherwise given off, is a clear indicator that this is what his mother now needs to do.
Finally turning against him and testifying – in the event he ever is found alive – guarantees the family now a different kind of future. It’ll start under witness-protection, but it’ll be different than what has been going on at least.

It’s almost all over.
But like I said in the beginning of this post, there’s one more chapter left.
Something is still not resolved; something about the Kangas-family that’s been popping up and on and off in these stories. Alisa, Tero and then little Eemeli, who’s still alive without a mother somewhere out there. The book hasn’t been showing that unfortunate family off for nothing.
Please join me tomorrow, as it all ends.

THE SECOND COLEMAN STORIES, chapter 16

The last chapter was the most uncomfortable one I’ve ever ahd to write. I felt repulsed, I felt sick that I was the one writing it and my character was the one doing it. But I knew that it was the direction this story was going; that character was going; that hideaway-cabin was going; that tradition of telling stories to people just before killing them,w as going.

Now, however, it’s Alex’s turn.

Welcome to chapter 16. This one’s called “Alex’s Turn”.

THE SECOND COLEMAN STORIES, chapter 14

Something’s a little bit clearer about Anthony’s plans, now.

Something’s a little clearer about where John Porter has been and how he’s been doing, now.

Something’s a little bit clearer, to Sanna, about life and its’ purpose whenever she looks into her little boy’s eyes…

This one’s called “Great Escape”, and yes, before you asked, it’s named after the 1963 movie. Because a segment in it would really work (in my humble opinion) as a movie scene soundtracked by that movie’s main theme.

Anthony wasn’t in a wheelchair afterall.

THE SECOND COLEMAN STORIES, chapter 13

Things have gotten smaller in scope. The cold darkness of the last story still hangs over and February is the bleakest month of them all.
William Coleman is dead. Anthony has some plans going on and Sanna has yet some more grief to deal with.

This one’s called “Ballad of a Rat Fuck”, and it’s where a long-brewing plan starts to come to pass with Anthony and his friends.

Alex Coleman has way more work to do than he probably ever realizes.

THE SECOND COLEMAN STORIES, chapter 12

William comes to an ultimatum.

More information’s revealed about Anthony, who still keeps being elusive to his friends.

Alex is a sweet boy.

What happened to Joey Porter’s brother after all?

Welcome to chapter 12. This one’s called “Don’t”.

That fedora-wearing old man sure was helpful.

Alright, eight chapters remain, and William Coleman has just really died.
In the coming week you’ll see where this story finally takes you. I promise it will be different.

THE SECOND COLEMAN STORIES, chapter 11

The second-last story begins. We have moved five years ahead in time, to early in the year 2024.

So it’s been 20 years – canonically – since the book’s beginning. William and Sanna are 35, their son Anthony is well into adulthood and they have a second child. A son named Alexander. He’s 4. William got his name from Joey Porter’s speech where he listed all the people that died because of the Greens–Relatives conflict. Among the names was Alexander Green.

This one’s called “Born Sinner”.

Innocuous beginnings. What all has gone on in the years since the conflict with the Porters has ended?

At least Anthony has been doing better financially, growing into a young man who’s got his own operation now.
At least William is still tormented by his past; a process that seems to exclusively intensify
And there is a second son. Alex.

PS:
This chapter was named after J. Cole’s album Born Sinner (2013). On the titular closer-track of that album there is the lyric “sometimes she hates the way she raised me; but she loved what she raised. / Can’t wait to hand her these house-keys with nothing to say”. And yeah, maybe a tad bit obvious but that inspired a scene here.

THE SECOND COLEMAN STORIES, chapters 7 & 8

It’s in the air.

Joey Porter has made a decision, William Coleman has made a decision. This tale of unlikely reunions and “frontier-justice” for runaways and criminals… STORY #4: “GREEN” is slowly drawing to an end.

These two are called “White Winter’s Morning” and “Antero Jäntti”.

CHAPTER 7

CHAPTER 8

Wow so these two
Chapter 7 is something I’m especially proud of. I still remember how successful I felt after pulling it off in this rewrite in-particular. I think it goes from a quiet place into a loud and shocking pace “at the speed of life” really believably and the descriptions just have something special about them…
I named it “white winter’s morning” because of two reasons, first obviously the harsh cold month of January, but then about the devastating effect that the coldness has had on the “purest” (like a “white winter’s morning”), character.

But here we are now. Antero Jäntti died in his titular chapter, and being the person responsible for a U.N. operation that shields escapees thought to be dead, so they can perform international agent-duties…
Joey Porter has opened a bigger can of whoop-ass than he knows yet.

Story #4 ends tomorrow.
